The Beginning!
My Day:

-I had a V8 before morning workouts at 6am
<---After I ate strawberry yogurt with blueberries and black berries.
-For lunch, orange chicken, with a mound of broccoli
- I had 3 snacks, carrots and ranch, 2 organic fruit leather's, and veggie chips.
-For dinner I ate Chicken with soy sauce and this Maple-Glazed Sweet Potatoes... yum.
The Maple- Glazed Sweet Potatoes are baked for 40 then combined in a deep skillet with bacon (I use turkey bacon), yellow onion (I use red), maple syrup (reduced fat) and thyme leaves... it tastes like Thanksgiving!
-AND THE GRAND FINALE, Mom's Favorite Banana dessert (Which is below) However, I used Dark Chocolate syrup instead.

have found success with the 9 club by adding lots of vegies to my lunch sandwich (spinach is especially delicious), making soup with lots of vegies and bringing celery and carrots with me on my long drives for work (they are a surprisingly delicious snack). Also, vegie and cheese paninis are my new passion (with roasted red pepper, spinach...and everything I can find)! (thanks, Sandy) Patty
PS I invite my friends, Donna and Laura (sisters) to join.
PPS I tried to post on the blog also but it said "tag is broken". Would a facebook page work better? I can do that if you guys like the idea.

I DID IT!
I got into the blog, that is, and I am creating a post....I did not get my nine in :( It's not that I'm not trying! I need to do more substituting fruits and veggies for non fruits and veggies rather than just piling them on top. Can we invite others to the blog?

Hughesnet stinks!!!!!
I am back on the internet after being relegated to a big dark hole in the sky for a week.
I have invited Jacqui and others to join our little group and I have given Michelle admin. status so she will be allowed to post....
In my email I see a new post from Patty but do not see it here ..I don't know what that is all about....but we are ALL proud of you Patty LOL.
After the others accept the invitation I should be able to make them 'administrators' too .... at that point they should be able to post......Crossed fingers.
I will be posting my 9 daily to keep me honest..
I made a cauliflower and cheese recipe for Michelle's birthday dinner. ( a SB take off on Mac and Cheese)
I made a simple white sauce with a little dry mustard , garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. melted in some american cheese (velveeta?), to make a smooth sauce..... poured over frozen or lightly steamed cauliflower florets , then stirred in lots of shredded sharp cheddar, sprinkled top with crumbs and baked at 350 degrees until nice and bubbly and browned a little on top. should be a good one to serve to most kids

How Club 9 started
I first became aware that 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day are suggested by watching Dr. Christine Northrup...http://www.drnorthrup.com/
As first I found it hard, now its easy for me.
A sample day is:
Breakfast: cereal or egg with a fruit
Lunch: salad, carrot sticks and a fruit
Snack: V8 and nuts
Dinner: Meat, 3 vegetables and 1/2 cup pasta, rice or potato
Snack banana with chocolate sauce and whipped cream (pretty much daily)
(I consider 1/2 cup a serving)
Other suggestions that Dr. Northrup had:
Your waist should not exceed 35" (I have a piece of yarn marked at 35", I keep cutting off pieces of it as I lose inches)
weigh your self daily
Exercise 5 times a week
Eat 5 carrot servings per week
Eat protein for breakfast
Drink 5 cups of tea per week
Take fish oil, vitamin D, magnesium
Breakfast predicts your whole day (stay away from sugar in the morning or you will be hungry all day)
Sugar is like glass in your veins (it is sharp and hard on your veins).
Use meat as a condiment.
No msg
Not too much alcohol
The older we get, the less food we really need.
I have heard a lot of this before, but I had never heard 9 serving of fruit and veggies. I wanted to try it, just to see if I could do it and I feel so much better. I find I am not looking for as much bread, chocolate and wine as usual because I am more focused on trying to eat all of my fruit and veggies. The key is having the fresh fruits and veggies in the house ready to go and liking them. I just love apples but I have to dunk them in peanut butter, so I do.
Having 3 veggies for dinner may seem hard but it is not. I make one per night (a big batch) then I eat 2 leftover servings from the 2 previous nights.

Yum, South Beach fries sound good! I am having one of those days that I want to eat everything in the fridge and my tennis shoes. I have some sweet potatoes, so I am going to see that quenches my hunger.
How to post
In order to post simply 'hit' New Posts in upper tight hand corner..........in order to see old posts 'hit' the ones that interest you ....under January posts on the right hand side of screen.
South beach "fries"
I get really hungry for a cheeeseburger and fries
Last night I had a boca burger and butternut squash fries
South Beach recipe is calls for sweet potato but I substituted butternut squash and they turned out fine.
2 medium sweet potatoes scrubbed and drie1 T. extra virgin olive oil (evoo) or canola oil
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp paprika
Heat oven to 425
slice each potato lengthwise into 8 to 10 pieces toss with salt oil and paprika
spread on a single layer on a baking sheet until lightly browned ( about 15 minutes)
turn slices and bake another 10 minutes or until that side is browned and potatoes are tender.
I heat the pan in the oven while it preheats ..
